Curbside Pickup Offers New & Replacement Ballots For Voters in the Colorado Primary Election
On June 30, 2020, Arapahoe County will hold a state primary election, which will determine the U.S. Senate nominees for each political party as well as nominees for state offices and Arapahoe County commissioner. Nominated candidates from each political party's primary ballot will be included on the Nov. 3, 2020 ballot for the general election. The winner of the general election will hold public office.
All active voters registered as Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, or Unaffiliated voters will receive a ballot, starting the week of June 8.
Update your voter registration
Make sure your voter registration is active, your email and mailing addresses are current by visiting www.govotecolorado.gov. The County uses this information to mail your ballot to you. Please note that ballots cannot be forwarded by the U.S. Postal Service, even if you have submitted a Change of Address Form to the U.S. Postal Service.
Watch your mailbox
Please allow one full week for your ballot to arrive. If you do not receive your mail ballot by June 16, please call Arapahoe County Clerk & Recorder Elections Division at 303-795-4511 before June 22, 2020 to request a replacement mail ballot be sent to you. After June 22, it is too late to request a ballot be sent by mail.
Curbside ballot pickup
From June 22 - June 30 (Election Day), you can maintain social distancing and still receive a replacement ballot by calling our new curbside ballot pickup service. Call the Election Division at 303-795-4511 to schedule a replacement ballot pickup. You choose the day, time and which of our six County Voter Service and Polling Centers (VSPC) is most convenient. Bring your ID and park at the reserved marked parking spot at your appointment time and an election judge will bring your ballot to your car. Upon issuance of a replacement ballot, your original mail ballot will be voided. Voters can only vote once.

The June 30 Colorado primary election will determine the candidate for each political party to advance to the general election. Visit the On The Ballot page for more information. Which ballot will I receive?
As noted above, all active eligible registered voters will receive a mail ballot for the state primary on June 30. The ballot you receive is based upon your party affiliation. In brief:
- If you are registered as a Democrat, Libertarian, or Republican, you will receive that party’s ballot.
- If you are unaffiliated and have recorded a preference to receive a specific party ballot, you will get that party’s ballot.
- If you are unaffiliated and have not stated an official preference, you will receive both Democratic and Republican ballots. Please note: you may only return a ballot for one party. If two voted ballots are returned, neither will count.
- If you are affiliated with other minor political parties, you will not get a ballot.
To check your affiliation status , please visit www.govotecolorado.gov. Note: June 1 was the state law deadline for voters to change or declare a party affiliation or preference and no changes can be made after this date to affect which ballot you may vote in the June 30 election.
I’m 17. Can I vote in the Colorado primary?
Yes! The Colorado Votes Act (HB 19-1278), which took effect in August 2019, allows 17-year-olds to vote in state and presidential primary elections as long as they’ll turn 18 by the general election, Nov. 3. Seventeen-year-olds who turn 18 after Nov. 3 cannot vote in this year’s primary elections.
How to vote
There are a few ways you can vote:
- Sign and seal your mail ballot envelope and return to a 24-hour drop box. A list of 30 ballot drop boxes locations near you can be found on the Arapahoe Votes website, including a new one for the Colorado primary election at Central Recreation Center in Aurora. Ballots must be returned by 7 p.m. on June 30, 2020.
- Mail your ballot back by U.S. Mail so that it is received by the County on June 30. Postmarks do not count!
- You can vote in person at a VSPC June 22-June 30, and the County provides accessible ballot marking devices and language interpretation services for voters needing such assistance in voting. Be sure to check open hours before you go! If voting in person, please follow posted public health safety guidelines and instructions to protect yourself, election judges and volunteers, and fellow voters.
- Voters with disabilities may also request to access their ballot electronically on the Secretary of State’s website and mark it privately and safely from home with their own adaptive computer systems. Voters must still print the voted ballot and accessible ballot application, sign the application and return all materials to the County by U.S. Mail or in a 24-hour drop box by 7 p.m. on June 30.

You would also receive a message if your ballot is returned as undeliverable by the U.S. Postal Service.
